Please call or e-mail to schedule private and semi-private instruction. Every effort will be made to tailor meeting times to fit students' schedules. Both weekend and weekday times are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
   

College Planning Workshops

"Starting High School with College in Mind" for rising 9th and 10th grade students

*special summer student-only fee: $35 per workshop
This will be a 90 minute workshop designed to help rising Freshmen and Sophomores plan ahead and position themselves well for the college application process.

Topics included:
  • Establishing a college-planning calendar
  • How do to best use your 9th and 10th grade years
  • Course selection (AP v. IB? How difficult should a courseload be?)
  • Explanation of the Application process (What do colleges consider to be most important? How do colleges evaluate an application?)
  • College Admission Testing (SAT, ACT or both? SAT Subject tests? How to prepare?)

  • How to begin making your college list
  • Course selection for Junior and Senior years
  • Explanation of the Application process (What do colleges consider to be most important? How do colleges evaluate an application?)
  • College Admission Testing (SAT, ACT or both? SAT Subject tests? How to prepare? When should you begin testing? How many tests should you take? How much weight do colleges give to test scores?)
  • How to make the most of a college visit

This will be a 90 minute workshop designed to help rising Seniors begin the application process before the school year begins.

  • How to finalize your college list (How many applications to complete? Which schools will be "good fits"?)
  • Course selection for Senior year
  • Explanation of the Application process (What do colleges consider to be most important? How do colleges evaluate an application?)
  • College Admission Testing (SAT, ACT or both? SAT Subject tests? Do you need to take any more tests or are you in a strong position? How to prepare? How much weight do colleges give to test scores?)
  • How to make the most of a college visit
  • How to prepare for a college interview
  • The college essay (How to begin? What to include? How do colleges evaluate the essays?)
  • Teacher recommendations and extra-curriculars
