Small Group College Counseling Workshops

Workshops will be designed to meet the needs of both students and their parents and will address the following topics (limit of 3 families per workshop):

• College Selection
  • How many colleges should I apply to?
  • How do I choose my "foundation," "likely," and "reach" schools?
  • How do I go about finding colleges that are a "good fit" for me?
• Resume, College Visits, College Interview coaching
  • Why do I need a resume? What should I include on my resume?
  • When should I visit schools? How do I make the most of a college visit? What should I do if I cannot arrange a college visit?
  • Should I interview when I visit? How do I best prepare for an interview? What will be expected of me in an interview?
• Essay work sessions/ coaching
  • What are schools looking for in an essay?
  • How do I come up with a topic?
  • Does the essay really make a difference?
• Applications
  • Should I use the Common App?
  • Should I apply Early Decision or Early Action?
• College Admission testing
  • When should I take college admissions tests?
  • SAT, ACT or both?
  • What are SAT Subject tests? Do I need to take them?
  • How many tests should I take?

Fee for student and parent (s) attendance (workshop handouts included): $75
