Course Descriptions and Fees

SAT Preparation

SAT Preparation is designed to provide students with the test-specific strategies, skills review and practice necessary to be well-prepared on test day. Direct instruction will include review of critical skills and concepts tested on the Math, Critical Reading, and Writing tests, instruction of test-taking strategies specific to the SAT Reasoning test, and thorough explanation of all practice tests taken. Students will learn how to manage their time effectively and discern between questions they should answer or omit in order to maximize their potential score.

Students will be assigned a practice SAT test between each meeting. These assignments will require approximately 3 hours of work outside of the group meetings each week. Completion of these practice tests is vital to maximize the benefit of instruction and will provide the students (and their parents) with a realistic score potential. In addition, practice will help students build the stamina and endurance necessary to score to their maximum potential on test day.

Students should bring their calculators and any previous score reports to each session. All other materials will be provided.


SAT Small Group Preparation

Students meet in groups of 3-5. Group size is limited to allow for individual attention.

The last 20 minutes of the meetings 2, 3 and 4 will be split between one-on-one meetings with the instructor and SAT essay preparation work. These private meetings will allow each student to receive individualized feedback regarding his/ her practice tests, progress, strategies, etc. Essay preparation will involve writing introductory paragraphs and outlines for SAT prompts.

SAT small group instruction includes 7.3 hours of instructional time, a College Board text and Education Matters test preparation materials.

Fee for instruction and materials: $390


SAT Private Instruction

Private instruction will begin with an evaluation of a students' previous testing experience, scores, etc. Due to the nature of private tutoring, instructor will be able to identify specific areas in need of improvement and will be able to spend individualized meeting time to concentrate instruction in those areas.

SAT private instruction includes 7.3 hours of one-on-one instructional time, a College Board text and Education Matters test preparation materials.

Fee for instruction and materials: $650


Expanded SAT Private Instruction

Students may opt to purchase expanded SAT private instruction if they would like

  • To extend preparation over 6-8 weeks prior to the test date
  • To devote initial sessions to include a more extensive review (and re-teaching) of Math skills
  • To complete 4 or more practice tests prior to the test date

Expanded SAT private instruction includes 10 hours of instructional time, a College Board text, Education Matters test preparation materials, and an additional text (when necessary).
