Course Descriptions and Fees

ACT Preparation

ACT Preparation is designed to provide students with the test-specific strategies, skills review and practice necessary to be well-prepared on test day. Direct instruction will include review of critical skills and concepts tested on the English, Math, Reading and Science tests, instruction of test-taking strategies specific to the SAT Reasoning test, and thorough explanations of all practice tests taken. Students will learn how to manage their time effectively to maximize their score.

Students will be assigned practice ACT test sections between each meeting. These assignments will require approximately 2-3 hours of work outside of the group meetings each week. Completion of these practice tests is vital to maximize the benefit of instruction and will provide the students (and their parents) with a realistic score potential. In addition, practice will help students build the stamina and endurance necessary to score to their maximum potential on test day.

Students should bring their calculators and any previous score reports to each session. All other materials will be provided.


ACT Small Group Preparation

Students meet in groups of 3-5. Group size is limited to allow for individual attention.

The last 15 minutes of the meetings 2, 3 and 4 will be devoted to one-on-one meetings with the instructor. These private meetings will allow each student to receive individualized feedback regarding his/ her practice tests, progress, strategies, etc. In addition, the last 15 minutes will be used for students to write thesis statements, outlines and conclusions for ACT essay prompts.

ACT Private Instruction

Private instruction will begin with an evaluation of a students’ previous testing experience, scores, etc., and instruction will be tailored appropriately. Due to the nature of private tutoring, instructor will be able to identify specific areas in need of improvement and will be able to spend individualized meeting time to concentrate instruction in those areas.
